In this video photographer, Dan Holdsworth and sound recordist, Chris Watson discuss their experiences of Iceland. This conversation took place on the occasion of Dan Holdsworth’s exhibition ‘Blackout’ at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in 2010.
The current exhibition presents Holdsworth’s latest series, ‘Spatial Objects’ (2015), alongside some of his most significant bodies of work from the past five years. ‘Blackout’ (2010), and ‘Transmission: New Remote Earth Views’ (2012), marked the beginning of Holdsworth’s investigations into the interface between analogue and digital forms, and the geological and technological world, through the use of Geological Survey Data.
Shown in Southampton for the first time, ‘Spatial Objects’ is the result of Holdsworth’s ongoing enquiry into contemporary photographic processes, and what he calls the ‘surface interface of the image’ within today’s digital, media-saturated visual culture.
Southampton City Art Gallery invites you to the exhibition launch of Dan Holdsworth’s new exhibition ‘Spatial Objects’ on Tuesday 12 May from 6-8pm, admission free but RSVP (to firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 023 8083 4536) is essential.
